SUMMARY:CAS SAMBA Round - Contemporary Pharmacology in Ambulatory Anesthesi
a: Focus on Remimazolam and Beyond
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:\n\nhttps://secure.cas.ca/events/index.html/event-info/details/
 id/67
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>This session will provide a focused update
 on&nbsp\;<strong>contemporary pharmacology in ambulatory anesthesia</stron
 g>\, with particular emphasis on&nbsp\;<strong>remimazolam</strong>\, a no
vel ultrashort-acting benzodiazepine with growing clinical applications in
procedural sedation and general anesthesia. The discussion will highlight
its pharmacologic profile\, clinical advantages\, and practical considera
tions in comparison with established agents.</p>\n\n<p>In addition\, the s
ession will briefly review other important pharmacologic developments rele
vant to current practice\, including&nbsp\;<strong>GLP-1 receptor agonists
and their perioperative implications\, intravenous amisulpride for postop
erative nausea and vomiting\, and sugammadex for neuromuscular blockade re
versal</strong>. Emerging concepts in analgesic pharmacology will also be
introduced\, offering a glimpse into potential future directions in periop
erative care.</p>\n\n<p>After attending this round\, participants will be
 able to:</p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Review the pharmacology\, mechanism of action\,
and clinical applications of remimazolam in ambulatory anesthesia and proc
edural sedation\, including its role in adult and pediatric practice.</li>
\n<li>Discuss contemporary advances in perioperative pharmacology relevant
to ambulatory anesthesia\, including GLP-1 receptor agonists\, intravenou
s amisulpride for prevention and rescue treatment of postoperative nausea
and vomiting\, and sugammadex for neuromuscular blockade reversal.</li>\n<
li>Describe future directions in anesthetic pharmacology and perioperative
analgesia\, including novel opioid compounds currently in preclinical dev
elopment and their potential implications for safer pain management.</li>\
