SUMMARY:CAS Pinnacle Rounds - Time is Brain: Stroke Management and Review o
f Nova Scotia EVT Process Times From an Anesthesia Perspective
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:More than 97\,000 strokes occur in Canada every year\, with inc
idence increasing over time. Anesthesiologists in Canada are typically inv
olved in endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) management\, albeit in varying de
grees across the country. In this talk\, we will review community and peri
operative stroke management guidelines and typical anesthetic consideratio
ns. We will then cover Nova Scotia's current institutional standards\, pra
ctices\, and performance using data from our provincial stroke registry\,
before reflecting on the broader impacts of international clinical trials
on EVT practices and the role of anesthesiologists in the care of stroke p
 atients.\n\nhttps://secure.cas.ca/events/index.html/event-info/details/id/
