DESCRIPTION:Transgender patients represent approximately 2% of the general 
 population but are some of the most underserved and under-resourced patien
 ts in our care. They certainly deserve better care than our system current
 ly provides. As our knowledge grows and societal acceptance progresses\, t
 rans patients are finally beginning to receive the medical and surgical ca
 re they have needed. Surgical options for gender affirming care have progr
 essed beyond “top and bottom” surgery and can include facial reconstru
 ction and vocal cord surgeries. Some of these may complicate interpreting 
 our typical airway assessment and scar tissue may interfere with airway in
 terventions. As this is not a topic most physicians have had much training
  in it is prudent we take time to cover other considerations including chr
 onic pain and restrictive lung physiology from chest binders\, relevant co
 morbidities and approach to gender affirming perioperative care regardless
